UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday called on Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to implement a six-point peace plan put forward by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan. Meanwhile, Washington continues putting pressures on Damascus. The US Department of State has accused al-Assad of failing to respect the peace plan as Syrian forces continued their assault on rebel bastions. The move comes as US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is preparing to attend the Friends of Syria conference in Istanbul, Turkey, on Sunday. US senators filed a draft resolution condemning Syria's bloody violence and urging the arming of anti-government rebels. However, the White House says that Washington has not yet drawn up a plan to support arms for the opposition in Syria.
