(VOVworld) - United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Thursday urged the opposition in Syria to take a historic step to end the 6-year conflict in this country.

The statement was made at the opening of the 4th peace talks on Syria in Geneva. Mr. Mistura said he did not expect any major breakthrough because so many problems remain. He said bilateral meetings will continue on Friday to work out the format of the talks and action plans.
