UN Deputy Secretary General Gyan Chandra Acharya told the meeting: “You can all promote your economic activities by having more collaboration among the countries of the region. We also highlight that there is a need for more support from the international community for the landlocked countries and the countries which provide transit facility. Investment and trade facilitation is needed. Trade, technology, and capacity development are needed. I think it’s the very strong message from the Hanoi meeting.”

Participants suggested initiatives to combine the Vienna Action Plan and the 2030 Agenda with national strategies and support non-maritime countries to obtain sustainable development goals.

They appreciated Vietnam’s cooperation with the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) to organize the meeting agenda to meet the needs of non-maritime countries.
