The statement was made by Jean-Pierre Lacroix, UN Under Secretary General and Head of the Department of Peacekeeping Operations at a celebration in New York on Wednesday to mark the 75th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 30th All-People’s Defense Festival. He said Vietnam’s recent improvement of its peace-keeping activities is a bright example for other countries. Lacroix added that he hopes the UN will enjoy a fruitful cooperation with Vietnam in peace-keeping after Vietnam becomes a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021.

Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, said Vietnam wants to further contribute to UN peace-keeping operations.
