UN marks 20th anniversary of Rwanda genocide

(VOVworld) - The UN Security Council has called on countries to prevent and fight serious crimes amid escalating violence and conflicts across the world, as it marked the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide on Wednesday.
UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson addressed the meeting that most conflicts originate from divisions derived from religion, ethnicity, and language, noting that no country could avoid these risks. He urged UNSC members to enhance their efforts at all levels to prevent and early detect signs of violence and cruel acts while protecting human rights.
