The UN envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, said on Tuesday that he had decided to delay the UN-sponsored talks in order to take advantage of the results, which came out of a negotiations held earlier this week in Kazakhstan between the Syrian government and opposition groups, Turkey, Russia, and Iran. The three participating countries agreed to monitor the implementation of a partial ceasefire in Syria, towards a political solution to the conflict.

The UN envoy said a solid ceasefire will help to achieve concrete results in the next Syrian peace talks in Geneve.
