UN Secretary-General believes Vietnam will make effective contributions to human rights
(VOVWORLD) -UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday congratulated Vietnam on its election to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term, and said he believes Vietnam will effectively contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights.

At a meeting in New York with Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, Guterres said that he will pay an official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Vietnam's accession to the UN later this year, adding the visit aims to deliver a strong message of the importance the UN attaches to the 45-year Vietnam-UN partnership.
He affirmed that Vietnam is an indispensable member of the UN and has made significant contributions to solving global challenges to peace and development in the world.
Ambassador Giang said Vietnam is committed to contributing to the UN’s work of promoting the Sustainable Development Goals, responding to climate change, and maintaining international peace and security.
