UNESCO presented the award on Wednesday evening at its headquarters in Paris. Dr. Van's research project "New nanostructured catalyst for efficient, cost-effective fuel cell production and green H2 energy production" has won acclaim from the UNESCO International Science Council.
This is the third time since 2015, a Vietnamese female scientist has been named in the prestigious UNESCO award.
Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO, Ambassador Le Thi Hong Van affirmed that the award brings pride for Vietnam and Vietnamese female scientists and responds to the UN "International Year of Basic Science" for sustainable development, of which Vietnam is one of the initiating countries.
“UNESCO appreciates that this time Vietnam is honored among 15 talented young female scientists. This once again shows Vietnam's contribution to the development of science and to join hands with the world community to solve problems of the current era, so that science can really support sustainable and inclusive development in digital age,” Van said.
The program For the development of women in science initiated by the L’Oréal Foundation and UNESCO honors and encourages female scientists to bring into full play their intelligence and creativity, pursue their passion for science, and go further on the path of scientific research.
