The UNSC has stressed the need for full, equal, and meaningful participation of women in this regard and encouraged parties to the negotiations to reduce violence.
The car bomb explosion occurred around 10 pm on Friday (local time) near the police station in Herat province. Herat Governor Sayed Abdul Wahid Qatali said several women and children were among the dead. No one claimed responsibility for the bombing but local officials blamed Taliban insurgents.
