UNSC discusses Ethiopia situation

(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Vietnam's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has stressed the importance of  UNICEF, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and other international partners, in supporting humanitarian aid in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Quy made the remarks at a Friday discussion of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on the current situation in Ethiopia. He called on related parties to prioritize civilians’ benefits and strictly follow international law and the UN Charter. He asked the parties to create favorable conditions for humanitarian access to Ethiopia, and refrain from any provocation that can lead to chaos in the country.

Mr. Quy said this is the right time for friendly and constructive negotiations to find political solutions to the current situation. He said Ethiopia’s sovereignty and political independence must be respected.
