US firms interested in Vietnam’s plans to resume production, trade

(VOVWORLD) - US enterprises on Tuesday praised Vietnam’s success in handling the COVID-19 epidemic and showed interest in Vietnam’s plans to resume trade and production activities once the epidemic is under control.

At an online meeting between Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Ha Kim Ngoc, Peter Tichansky, Chairman of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), and senior representatives of 40 major US enterprises, delegates discussed Vietnam-US cooperation and investment opportunities.

Ambassador Ngoc said that despite problems caused by the pandemic, Vietnam-US relations are strong and have achieved positive results in many fields. In economics and trade, the two countries have consulted to maintain the development pace, he said, adding that the Vietnamese Government is working to expand bilateral trade in a sustainable manner.

Healthcare cooperation has been a bright spot in bilateral relations and the two countries have been sharing their experience in controlling the epidemic. Vietnam is currently producing protective gear and medical equipment for the US.
