On the last day of the session, they discussed labor, the environment, and garments and textiles. Ministers from 12 countries have tackled trade liberalization in goods, services, investments, and government procurement in closed-door meetings. According to Tran Quoc Khanh, Vietnamese chief negotiator for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), negotiations on goods drew the attention of all negotiators, who also exchanged ideas on rule of origin, customs and intellectual property. On the sidelines of the meeting, many bilateral meeting sessions were held, including Japan-US talks. The US and Japan are the top economies among the 12 members of the TPP. However, the two countries have not yet reached agreement on some economic issues. The US wants to protect its auto industry while Japan wants to protect its farm sector.
