South Korea’s Unification Ministry spokesman, Jeong Joon-hee, said North Korea’s activities have boldly violated the UN Security Council’s resolutions. The missile launch is a serious provocation to South Korea and the international community. The South Korean army has said it will have a strong reaction to the North’s provocation, which threatens the South’s national defense.

Japan has opposed North Korea’s missile launch, saying that from the perspective of the safety of aircraft and ships, it is an extremely problematic, dangerous act. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters that it was a serious threat against Japan’s security and an outrageous act that cannot be tolerated.

Spokeswoman for the US State Department, Anna Rickey Allen, confirmed that the US has received information about the missile launch and that Washington strongly opposed it as well as North Korea’s other recent missile launches.
