US, Japan, South Korea discuss situation on the Korean peninsula

At the meeting, the three FMs agreed to work closely to maintain stability on the Korean peninsula. The US Secretary of State expressed his concern over North Korea’s missile launch, saying it would impact the situation on the Korean peninsula.

The meeting took place after North Korea launched Hwasong-18 intercontinental ballistic missile to the east of this country on Wednesday. Earlier, The North accused a spy plane of the US of violating its Exclusive Economic Zone. North Korea also criticized the recent visit of a US nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine to South Korea and vowed to take response measures.
