(VOVworld)- US and its NATO allies have been closely cooperating in the fight against Islamic State (IS). US President Barack Obama made the statement at a Tuesday meeting in the White House with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

At a press conference following the meeting, Mr.Obama said that all of NATO’s 28 members contribute to the US-led coalition to counter IS and assist the Iraqi government in combating IS.

Obama said that the NATO alliance needs to consider deploying more military forces and equipment in Iraq, as the IS step up its attacks on the Baghdad region. IS has recently retaken control of Ramadi, capital of Anbar province.

To help Iraqi forces regain control of IS-held regions, about 2000 anti-tank guns will be delivered to the Iraqi forces.
