(VOVWORLD) - The US is willing to negotiate with Russia on the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with specific conditions which include Washington’s possible monitoring sessions to ensure global security.
The statement, made by the US State Department on Tuesday, came a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree suspending Moscow’s compliance with the Treaty.
The INF Treaty, signed by the Soviet Union and the US in 1987, applies to deployed and non-deployed ground-based missiles of shorter and intermediate range (500-5,500 kilometers).
