(VOVworld) – US President Donald Trump has sent letters to both chambers of Congress on Saturday, saying he has acted in the vital national security and foreign policy interests of the US.

Trump added that the US will take additional action when possible to further its national interests. The US news agencies reported that President Trump is considering 2 solutions: punitive attack to prevent further uses of chemical weapons, and aggressive attack to destroy Syria’s chemical arsenal and vehicles.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the US is “playing with fire”. In a telephone talk with the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Saturday, Lavrov said the terrorist attacks will threaten regional and global security. Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow expects explanations, during Tillerson’s visit to Russia, for the decision of attacking Syria.
