(VOVworld) - US President Barack Obama wants Congress to approve the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal this year to help write the rules on global trade while keeping a competitive edge. White House spokesman Eric Schultz said on Friday that this will be something that Congress has to contend with.

They can either cede that ground to China which the President believes is the wrong approach. Eric said the President absolutely believes this deal should pass this year. TPP is a trade agreement among 12 Pacific Rim countries, intending to remove trade tariffs and barriers for import, export, and other services among member countries.
