US President optimistic about Middle East peace
(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump said Middle East countries have a “rare opportunity” to bring about regional peace and stability, defeat terrorism, and create a prosperous future if they unite together.

At a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in Jerusalem on Monday, Trump said he was optimistic about Middle East peace, adding that what happened in Iran made other countries turn towards Israel. He said Tehran will never be allowed to produce nuclear weapons and condemned its backing of terrorism. During his visit to Israel, Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss efforts to revive negotiations between Israel and Palestine, which have been stalled since 2014.
