US President Joe Biden emphasized that dealing with the climate crisis is one of his highest priorities.

Hours after he was sworn-in on January 20, Biden signed an executive order beginning the 30-day process for the US to reenter the global pact.

According to Biden, climate change is a global and vital crisis, so the US can't wait any longer to participate in solving this problem.

Biden also announced a climate plan that would spend 2 trillion USD over four years investing in clean-energy infrastructure while vowing to cut carbon emissions from electrical power to zero in 15 years.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Paris Agreement is an unprecedented framework for global action, adding that the US helped design the agreement and make it a reality. Blinken emphasized that combating climate change will once again be at the center of the US domestic and foreign policy priorities.
