US sanctions Russian, Chinese tech firms over funds for North Korea
(VOVWORLD) - The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on a Chinese tech firm, its North Korean CEO, and a Russian subsidiary, accusing them of moving illicit funds to North Korea in violation of US sanctions.

The new sanctions target the Yanbian Silverstar Network Technology Co, CEO Jong Song Hwa, and Russian sister company Volasys Silver Star, the US Treasury Department said in a statement.
Earlier, the United States imposed sanctions on a Russian port service agency and Chinese firms for aiding North Korean ships and selling alcohol and tobacco to Pyongyang in breach of US sanctions. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Washington “is not aware” of how “fraught with danger” its “uttmost pressure” on Pyongyang is.
