US Secretary of State John Kerry’s activities in Hanoi

(VOVworld) – At a reception for US Secretary of State John Kerry in Hanoi on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam thanked Mr. Kerry for his contributions to expanding cooperation between Vietnam and the US, particularly in education, science and technology. He said he hoped that the visit will continue to promote bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership. Mr. Kerry said education and science and technology are an important area of cooperation between Vietnam and the US.

The same day, the US embassy hosted an online exchange between Mr. Kerry and Vietnamese youths and students, who are members of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI), an initiative by President Obama to increase ASEAN leadership and connectivity and promote people-to-people exchanges between US citizens and Southeast Asian young leaders. Mr. Kerry affirmed his support for the Fulbright University project in Vietnam, which is linked with Havard University, adding that this will help Vietnam develop its tertiary education.
