US Secretary of State to visit Middle East and North Africa

(VOVWORLD) - Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel, the West Bank, and two North African countries of Morocco and Algeria, from Saturday to Wednesday, the US State Department said on Thursday.

High on the agenda will be the conflict in Ukraine, Israel-Palestinian relations, Iran issues and the global energy price crisis. Blinken is scheduled to have separate meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah during the first leg of his tour.

In Morocco, Blinken will discuss the situation in Iran, Yemen, the global energy market and Ethiopia. He will also hold a discussion with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita about the dispute in the Western Sahara and the US-brokered Abraham Agreement signed in September 2020 to normalize Israel's relations with Arab countries.
