The visit comes after a phone conversation between Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and US President Joe Biden on March 29, where the leaders agreed to boost ties.

The US Department of State said earlier that Secretary Blinken will advance key discussions with Vietnamese partners as the countries celebrate 10 years of Comprehensive Partnership, adding that he will meet with senior Vietnamese officials to discuss the shared vision of a connected, prosperous, peaceful, and resilient Indo-Pacific region.
