(VOVworld) - US Secretary of State John Kerry will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in London this week for the first time since the Middle East peace talks collapsed last month, said US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki.

The meeting could be the last attempt by Kerry to revive negotiations. The meeting aims to discuss US-Palestine bilateral relations and whether Washington should continue to provide financial assistance for a government which now includes Hamas movement.

Concerning the Middle East peace process, Psaki said the door remains open and the Secretary of State will call on all parties to refrain from harmful activities.

Meanwhile, the EU expressed its concerns over recent developments in the Middle East peace process and called on all parties to make contributions, emphasizing its support for the peace efforts of Kerry and his partners.
