(VOVWORLD) - US Senator Cory Gardner, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cyber-security Policy, on Sunday released a statement recognizing the 25th anniversary of normalized relations between the US and Vietnam.

According to the statement, over the past 25 years, normalized relations with Vietnam have been beneficial for US’s trade, public health, and for supporting human rights and democracy around the world.
Senator Gardner congratulated Vietnam’s ASEAN chairmanship and looked forward to continuing to grow the strong partnership between the US and Vietnam, which will be supported by the bipartisan Asia Reassurance Initiative Act.
