(VOVworld) – National Security Advisor Susan Rice received Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan at the White House on Thursday to discuss the bilateral partnership in addressing global challenges, including maritime security in the East Sea.

The two talked about ways two countries can boost bilateral cooperation in countering terrorism and promoting trade.
Rice reiterated the US’s strong commitment to playing a long-term role in Asia Pacific and strengthening ties with key partners like Singapore and ASEAN as part of President Obama's rebalance strategy.
They discussed the strategic and economic benefits of the Trans Pacific Partnership and highlighted the enduring benefits of a 50-year diplomatic relationship which will be bolstered by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s official visit to Washington onAugust 2nd.
