US State Department report on human trafficking does not fully, truly reflect Vietnam’s reality: FM

(VOVWORLD) - The US State Department’s 2022 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report contains incorrect information that fails to fully and accurately reflect the situation in Viet Nam, according to deputy spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang.

At a regular press conference on Thursday, Ms Hang said that Vietnam has implemented several solutions against human trafficking with the engagement of all ministries, sectors and localities in response to the Program on Anti-Human Trafficking in the 2021-2025 period.

Hang said a series of guiding documents have been issued  for Vietnamese guest workers, policies and legal documents on prevention of trafficking humans, forced labor, support for victims of trafficking, and protection of children on the Internet.

She said: "In reality, the prevention and combat of domestic and cross-border human trafficking is regularly reviewed for appropriate measures to be taken during the pandemic time.  Viet Nam is also continuing its efforts to implement the United Nations' Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) to strengthen a transparent migration environment, prevent the risk of human trafficking in international migration."
"We hope that the U.S. will closely work with the Vietnamese side to make more accurate assessment of the situation in Viet Nam as well as the country’s effort to deal with the issue. Viet Nam stands ready to discuss with the U.S. and relevant sides on the issue and work with each other to effectively prevent human trafficking," added Ms. Hang.
