(VOVworld) – Security in Ferguson in the US state of Missouri was being restored after local authorities lifted the nighttime curfew and the National Guard was mobilized. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon said on Monday that additional resources are in place and that Missouri police and National Guard, under the supervision of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement, will continue to respond appropriately to incidents of lawlessness and violence, and protect the civil rights of all peaceful citizens to make their voices heard.

Speaking at a White House press conference, US President Barack Obama announced that Attorney General Eric Holder would be traveling to Ferguson to supervise the situation. Holder will meet with investigators, local authority, and law enforcement officials to seek measures to restore the order. The Department of Justice announced the start of the investigation.
