US to help Vietnam set up a national CDC

(VOVWORLD) -The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Vietnam will increase support in 2023, including the establishment of the Vietnam National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said Dr. Eric Dziuban, Country Director in charge of the Vietnam office of the US CDC.

In an interview with the press on medical cooperation between the US and Vietnam, Dr. Eric Dziuban said next year will celebrate 10 years of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries and the 25th anniversary of the US CDC's office in Vietnam.

He said the US will help Vietnam set up a national CDC, focusing on TB treatment for children and acceleration of HIV prevention programs to reduce HIV transmission in the Mekong region.

In addition, the two sides will cooperate on regular vaccination. The US will help Vietnam improve its health system to respond in emergency and non-emergency situations.
