Biden made clear that US policy with respect to Gaza will be determined by an assessment of Israel’s immediate action. He underscored that an immediate ceasefire is essential to stabilize and improve the humanitarian situation and protect innocent civilians. Biden urged Netanyahu to empower his negotiators to conclude a deal without delay.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters in Brussels that there is no higher priority in Gaza than protecting civilians, expanding humanitarian assistance, and ensuring the security of those who provide it. He added that Israel needs to take responsibility in these matters.

Director General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Thursday that only ten of Gaza's hospitals are still able to function even partially. More than 33,000 people have died in Gaza and nearly 80,000 have been injured.
