US urges unconditional ceasefire in Gaza

(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama had a phone conversation with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu  on Monday, requesting long-term ceasefire in Gaza. Obama underscored the importance of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, asking all parties to halt all hostile acts in accordance with the truce signed in November 2012. He also expressed concerns about the increasing casualities, but reiterated Israel’s right to self-defense.
