Utah suffers biggest quake in 30 years

(VOVWORLD) - A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck northern Utah in the US on Wednesday.

This was the strongest earthquake the region has suffered since 1992.

The quake shook Salt Lake City and its suburbs, sending spooked residents fleeing their homes, knocking out power for tens of thousands of people, and closing the city's airport. Governor Gary Herbert warned people to stay away from downtown Salt Lake City while officials assess the damage.
