Van Don international airport, the Ha Long cruise port, and the Ha Long-Van Don expressway were constructed in the form of public-private partnership between Quang Ninh authorities and Sun Group whose operations involve leisure and travel, recreation and entertainment, real estate, and infrastructure development.

“The projects prove Vietnam’s policy of encouraging private investment. Quang Ninh province should be a role model for other localities to follow,” Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told the opening ceremony.

The 330 million USD Van Don international airport, the first private airport in Vietnam, can handle 2.5 million passengers a year and is expected to focus on Northeast and Southeast Asian countries like South Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Cambodia.

The 44 million USD Ha Long cruise port in Ha Long city is designed to receive two cruise ships at one time with 8,500 passengers.

The 50 million USD Ha Long-Van Don expressway with a maximum speed of 100km/h will cut travel time between Ha Long city to Van Don by half.
