Various activities underway to mark War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day

(VOVworld) – A series of activities have been held by Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Union to pay gratitude to war invalids and martyrs on the occasion of War Invalids and martyrs Day on July 27th.  The programs also aim to promote the national tradition of remembering the source of the water we drink among young city dwellers.

Many other charitable activities have also been organized to visit, present gifts, and provide free medical check-ups to families of war invalids and fallen soldiers.

Tran Ba Cuong, Director of the local Center for Social Affairs and Youths, comments “the local people and youth union’s members at all levels have participated enthusiastically in the programs to pay tribute to those who laid down their lives in the cause of national independence. We have collected 24,000 candles to burn in seven local martyrs’ cemeteries. Youth union members will be involved in repairing, re-decorating, and cleaning up the graves and memorials and will hold candle lighting in all cemeteries at the same time on July 26th.
