Vi Giam folk singing introduced to UNESCO

(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Russia has introduced the Vietnamese community there to the Vi Giam folk singing of Nghe Tinh province. Professor Nguyen Chi Ben, Director of the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts, informed attendees that a dossier on Vi Giam folk singing has been submitted to UNESCO to nominate it as an intangible heritage of humanity.

"We have DVDs with English subtitles and books in Vietnamese, French, and English to introduce Vi Giam folk singing to the world and to UNESCO. I hope our work will go smoothly at UNESCO’s session next year. UNESCO’s officials appreciate Vietnam’s hosting of its senior expert conference on heritage preservation and climate change." Ben said.
