Vice President delivers key note speech at Future of Asia conference

(VOVworld) – Global financial crisis and recession provide countries with opportunities for changes and breakthroughs. Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan said so at her speech at the Future of Asia Conference in Japan’s capital of Tokyo.

Doan said countries need to build proper new development models: "Development model refreshment will help address root causes of  the recent financial crisis as well as long-term challenges facing each country’s economy. There isn’t an one size fit all model due to differences in development level and national context".

Ms. Doan stressed that Vietnam is promoting economy restructuring focusing on investment, financial and banking and corporate restructuring. She added controlling inflation, assuring social welfare and green economic growth and administrative reform are also main targets of Vietnam’s economic restructuring.

On the same day, Ms. Doan met with Chairman of Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association, Motoo Furuta. She expressed hope that the association will play greater role in boosting exchanges between the two countries we both will mark the 40th founding anniversary of bilateral ties next year.
