Vice President meets Japanese royal family

(VOVWORLD) - Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh paid a courtesy visit to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko and met with Crown Prince Naruhito on Thursday while in Japan to attend the 27th Global Summit of Women.

While meeting with Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, Thinh described the royal couple’s first State visit to Vietnam in February as an important milestone and a symbol of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. She said their successful visit bolstered the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership and promoted tourism links and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.

Emperor Akihito affirmed his support for bilateral ties and pledged to continue his support.

At a meeting with Crown Prince Naruhito, Vice President Thinh said she hopes that He and rest of the Japanese Royal Family will continue to support the friendship and close cooperation between their two nations.

Crown Prince Naruhito said he thinks Ms. Thinh’s visit to Japan and her attendance at the Global Summit of Women are important affirmations of the increasingly important role of women in society.
