The meeting was within the framework of Madam Xuan’s bilateral activities in the US while attending the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) of the UN Economic and Social Council.

Madam Xuan told Ms. Murray that Vietnam hopes for bilateral engagement to actively implement the countries’ new bilateral relations framework according to the agreements reached during President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam last September.

She proposed the organization of more parliamentary delegation exchanges to strengthen mutual understanding and trust and underscored Vietnam’s readiness for dialogue and exchange of ideas with the US on remaining differences.

Ms. Xuan also proposed that the US government and congress continue to prioritize cooperation in addressing the consequences of the war in Vietnam, facilitating trade and investment relations with Vietnam, and promptly recognizing Vietnam's market economy.
