"Vietnam acts as important bridge between the US and ASEAN"
(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam-US bilateral ties have seen remarkable progresses as the two countries shifted from conflicts to cooperation in overcoming war aftermaths, said a US policy researcher.
Brian Eyler, Southeast Asia Program Director of the Stimson Center, a US-based nonpartisan policy research, told the press that as Vietnam and the US mark their 25th anniversary of normalizing bilateral ties, Vietnam is acting as an important bridge between the US and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by initiating models to engage countries in regional economic and environmental issues.
He suggested that both countries boost cooperation in education, healthcare and environment, in addition to settling war consequences, in order to enhance bilateral ties. He expressed his confidence in bright prospects for US-Vietnam relations in the future as long as both sides work together in this direction. He reiterated that Vietnam-US ties have constantly improved and been approved by both the US Democratic and Republican Parties.
