(VOVworld) – The Mekong River province of Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, and the northern province of Thai Binh are taking the lead in Vietnam in implementing children’s rights.

The information was released on Tuesday at a seminar in Hanoi held by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs. This is the first time the Ministry’s Department for Child Care and Protection has established a set of children’s rights indicators.

Deputy Minister Doan Mau Diep said the indicators were intended to provide leaders from ministries and relevant agencies, and domestic and international organizations with specific performance indicators for child protection, and education nationwide. Diep said: “The seminar is a good opportunity for ministries, relevant agencies, and those in charge of children’s issues in localities and international organizations to contribute opinions to improving the ranking. They will also have a clearer view of child care, protection, and education in Vietnam. Through each group of indicators, we will know which areas should be invested in more.”
