Vietnam Anti-Corruption Initiative Program 2011 reviewed

(VOVworld) – The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam and the World Bank on Monday hosted a conference to review the Vietnam Anti-Corruption Initiative Program 2011. A report at the conference said that 34 prize-winning projects of the program have been implemented aggressively across Vietnam. To date, the projects have basically been completed as planned, meeting the set goals. In particular, some projects have been creatively implemented and successfully transferred, maintaining sustainability. Anti-corruption is the responsibility of the Party, people and society, but the responsibility of the Party Committees and local administrations are very important. Ngo Manh Hung, Deputy Head of the Department of Corruption Prevention and Control under the Government Inspectorate, said:“Based on the results of these projects, we will re-systemize and report to the Prime Minister so as to uphold the positive results and learn from any shortcomings. Sectors, branches and localities will learn from the experience during project implementation”.

Delegates also pointed out some shortcomings. Some projects are cumbersome and fail to achieve their goals. The conference suggested more of the people’s involvement in the fight against corruption.
