Vietnam asks Republic of Korea to prioritize COVID-19 vaccine supply

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Wednesday suggested that the Republic of Korea give priority to sharing and supporting the supply of COVID-19 vaccines to Vietnam as quickly as possible and consider helping Vietnam in research and production of vaccines.

Receiving Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui Yong, who is on an official visit to Vietnam, in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Prime Minister emphasized that the two sides need to continue to strengthen political trust; closely coordinate in organizing activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2022; encourage and ensure favorable conditions for Korean enterprises to continue to invest or expand their investment in Vietnam.

The Prime Minister also thanked the Korean Government for helping Vietnam in COVID-19 prevention and control  as a number of Korean businesses in Vietnam have contributed to the Vietnam Government's Vaccine Fund.

Prime Minister Chinh suggested strengthening cooperation at multilateral forums and in ASEAN-Korea relations; pay attention to and support the stance on protecting peace, stability, security, safety, freedom of navigation and overflight and the rule of law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, in the East Sea.

Minister Chung said that the Korean Government thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating favorable conditions for Korean experts and businesses to work in Vietnam.

He reiterated the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ willingness to continue working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam at regional and global forums.
