Vietnam assumes chair of ASEAN social security board

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam organized a ceremony in Khanh Hoa province on Wednesday to take over the rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) from Thailand. The event is part of the ongoing 35th ASSA Board Meeting.

Nguyen Thi Minh, Deputy Finance Minister and Director General of Vietnam Social Security (VSS), said that as the ASSA chair for the 2-year term, Vietnam will work with members to resolve problems faced by ASEAN social security systems.

She said: “We will share experience in the management and improvement of service quality with other members. The ASSA will increase connectivity to strengthen cooperation between social security organizations inside and outside the bloc to make social security sustainable for all. We will renovate and build a prosperous, advanced, and civilized ASEAN community in line with the ASEAN Community Vision until 2025.”

At the meeting, delegates adopted a joint statement on ASSA’s goals and regional cooperation orientations.
