Vietnam attends ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat in Singapore

(VOVworld) – Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang led a Vietnamese delegation to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Economic Ministers’ Retreat in Singapore on Thursday. Also attending the event were economic ministers of nine other ASEAN members, and the bloc’s Secretary General, Le Luong Minh.

This meeting aims to strengthen preparedness for the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community next year. On Wednesday, senior ASEAN economic officials convened a closed-door meeting to review the implementation of Free Trade Agreements (FTA) between the ASEAN and other countries and preparation for the establishment of the ASEAN+6 Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which comprises the 10 ASEAN member nations as well as China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, India, Australia, and New Zealand. They also discussed the ASEAN-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement scheduled to be implemented in 2015.
