Vietnam attends International Army Games 2019

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam sends 127 athletes to the International Army Games (IAG) 2019, which takes place from August 3rd to 17th in 10 countries including Russia, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, and other countries. Vietnamese athletes will compete in 7 games including tank biathlon, mobile cooks, chemistry, rescue and relief, sniper frontier, and military medicine.

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Tank and Vehicle  Force, Colonel Phan Hai Long, said: “Joining the International Army Games is an opportunity for us to share experience with other countries and enhance relations with their armies and the tank force. Our athletes hope to gain higher results this year.”

Colonel Pham Van Khao, head of the Vietnamese mobile cooks team to compete in Alabino training field, on the outskirts of Moscow, said they will do their best at the competition.

The Vietnamese delegation will exhibit images of Vietnamese land and culture at the Friendship House and perform at an Art Festival.

Major Nguyen Tien Dung, from the Vietnam Military History Museum, said: “This is the 1st time the Vietnamese army has participated in an exhibition in the Friendship House. We’ll introduce the Vietnamese culture and the Vietnam People’s Army as well as products that our soldiers made from war materials. They showed their self-reliance in difficult conditions and the soldiers’ desire for peace.”

The International Army Games is an important event in the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Year, the 25th anniversary of the Treaty on basic principles for the bilateral friendship, and 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
