Vietnam, Australia discuss innovation for sustainable development

(VOVWORLD) - One of the priorities in Vietnam's development strategy is to build an economy based on sci-tech, innovation, digital transformation, and green growth, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son told the Australia-Vietnam innovation symposium on Tuesday in Sydney.

The event organized in the hybrid format as part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties this year.
Son said Vietnam is expanding international cooperation in these fields, with Australia being a leading partner.
As countries are facing challenges in implementing the UN's Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, Son called on Vietnam and Australia to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Anoulack Chanthivong, Australian Minister for Industry and Trade and Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology of New South Wales state, said that the bilateral relations will continue to grow in the future as both are making joint efforts in decarbonization and ensuring energy security.
New South Wales, the "heart" of Australia's innovation in science and technology, is ready to boost cooperation with Vietnam to bring prosperity to both sides.
