The Vietnamese delegation was led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister and the Australian side was headed by Marc Ablong, Deputy Secretary for Strategic Policy and Intelligence.

The two leaders adopted the outcomes of the working session of the Defense Consultative Group on Thursday, agreeing that bilateral cooperation has been effectively implemented in line with the Memorandum of Understanding on Bilateral Defense Cooperation signed in 2010 and to the commitments by the leaders.

Both sides noted that next year Vietnam and Australia will celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 20th anniversary of defense relations. Both countries aim to raise the bilateral ties into the strategic partnership.
