He made the suggestion at a meeting with David Clarinval, Belgian Federal Minister for Small Businesses, the Self-Employed, SMEs and Agriculture, Institutional Reform and Democratic Renewal on Wednesday within the framework of trip to the EU and Belgium by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

At the meeting, Minister Hoan said Belgium is currently Vietnam's fifth largest and most important agro-forestry-fishery trading partner in the EU. He reiterated favorable environment to encourage Belgian businesses to invest, enter into joint ventures and joint production, and do agricultural business in Vietnam in areas where Belgium has strengths such as logistics, seaports, saltwater desalination, remote sensing, and food preservation technology.

The two sides continue to promote cooperation in research, technology transfer and training between Belgian institutes, universities and regions and Vietnam, Mr. Hoan said.

Minister Clarinval said he hopes to promote the implementation of the Strategic Agricultural Partnership Agreement and cooperation in training, technology transfer, private investment promotion, and development of the logistics system to serve agricultural value chain.
