Vietnam boosts agricultural exports, commits to global food security
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam, as a leading agricultural product exporter, has increased its exports of food products such as rice and seafood when the world is at risk of inflation and disruption of food supply.
As many countries ban the export of food, Vietnamese enterprises are making efforts to meet the increasing demands of customers around the world.
According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), seafood exports in May reached 1 billion USD, 27 percent higher than the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, rice exports in the first 4 months of this year reached more than 2 million tons with a total turnover of over 1 billion USD.
At a recent international conference on food security and nutrition, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh emphasized that Vietnam is currently a major global agricultural exporter. Vietnam commits to honoring the signed agreements to contribute to ensuring global food security, he said.
